Got a GM Flare Original replacement for my KD bat which split up the toe, which is the one model they do that hasn't had GM Now or Toe-tek, just the Dri Guard has been applied. Was just wondering if I should just chuck a scuff sheet straight on, or should I oil it first.

The KD bat was very white and sort of looked a bit dry, so I thought I needed to oil it, but the GM looks a much better colour and was wondering if it would be all good to chuck the sheet on now. I highly doubt they put oil on it while at the factory, even for the GM NOW and Toe-tek bats, but I really have no idea.

I'm thinking it will be all good to apply the sheet, then just oil the remaining exposed areas.

These days a sheet without any further oiling should be sufficient.  However, if you oil it, then using linseed will mean the sheet won't stick properly on top.  I know that some batmakers use another type of oil on top of the linseed, which allows a sheet to stick. I'm not sure what that type of oil is called though
