cricket hard coffin

I am in love with these things, however I have never had the balls to buy one. Partly because they seem a little on the expensive side... Agreed?

Does anyone have an opinion on why noone uses them? Also, where I could go about entertaining the idea of getting a second hand one to purchase and try out?

Do you get a certain amount of stick for it? Also, was is the correct and technical name for them? Or atleast how you found it advertised on eBay!

I found a website. I'll try and get you the details. They are traditionally known as Coffins. I bought a Fearnley one in 1980 and still use it to this date. Realy sad as well, I have pictures of it.

They do take up a lot of room in your average club dressing room. lol

Cricket Coffin

Above is the benchmark for Cricket Coffins i think, I've sold it to Alba on the forum who will probably mention the pros and cons in a bit. His one is identical to this even down to the locking mechanisms and handle but it has 3 bat spaces instead of 2. A few of us have already planned to turn up in our whites for one away game this coming season as the coffin will fill up the away's lol

Put Trifibre or cricket cases into google and it comes up with a website that specialises in cases, they have  3 cricket specific cases advertised. Standard one round about 72 quid, wheeled one which looks mahoosive around 190 quid.

Hope this helps

Luckily my home changing room is pretty large as are the majority of the away dressing rooms we will be visiting, there are 2 or 3 that I won't be able to take my coffin to so am in the market for another bag, which will get used for netting and practice anyway.

Not sure i'd fancy one without wheels. For room it gives you more space than any bag i've ever had. My review of it is limited as I've only had it this winter so not taken it to a match yet but it easily fits in all my kit, whites, washbag, towel. So literally all I need to take to cricket is my coffin, thats the plan anyway. Previously i've used big bags (Albion, Kookaburra) and one season had a duffle bag with seperate football holdall for my whites and toiletries.

One problem I can foresee with it is that as its all in one you can't easily seperate wet/dry clothes, muddy spikes etc. I plan to solve this by using some of those thin gym bags, for my spikes at least. I'm sure a carrier bag would do the same job

I have been using a coffin for the past season. Have just moved to a stand-up for next season, so if you are after a cheap coffin let me know. Duncan Fearnley one. I used to have a very good one many years ago that had bat straps in the inside of the lid.
