Your keeping gear for 2012
« on: January 10, 2012, 10:51:42 PM »

Evening all,

Suppose it's that time of year again. Wanted to ask the keepers out there what gloves and pads you are using this year, or which ones you are thinking of going for?

I used my Wymer customs last season and looking to try something new this year. Like the look of the SAF ones from the other day, as well as the GM LE/Originals. Open to suggestions of course

Simmy I know will be using the oven gloves...

Cheers

SS Gladiator Pads
GM Original Keeping Gloves (2011 model)
Instinct Keeping Gloves
SF Inners (Half Mesh Half Chamois)
Ayrtek Lid

Have some Puma Ballistic 5000s and Ayrtek gloves but may offload them as I know someone who is in need of Keeping gear...

Ss Gladiator gloves and Puma 2011 Calibre 5000 pads for me but sounds like your tastes are far more classical. The Gm le originals do look good, have you tried them on yet? I liked the design of the new SAF ones but not the colours which is a shame

How did you get on with the GM Originals mate?

Yeah the SAF ones reminded me of the GN Legends...do like the traditional style gloves to be honest, none of that disco stuff for me ;)

Not been able to try any on due to living in the sticks with no access to decent cricket shops. All my gear is normally purchased blind

On my list is the Millichamp & Hall gloves, but I really want to try them first to get the best fit.

Want to change my pads as well as I dont like my Addidas ones but waiting to go to a store with the new newbery sets and buy before selling.

I think I tried the new Gm le in Globe Sports Bristol, they felt good and I don't think you would go far wrong with those. I like the kook silvers but they are a bit pricey, price was the main reason I ended up with ss, seem top notch at a great price. The M&H gloves feel great just not a fan of the brown leather personally

I've got the 2011 Kook silvers in a bag somewhere, used for about 8 games. Very little padding in them to be honest, not what I expected. Nice gloves though, hands just took a pounding. Think the GM LE's are a winner. Always wondered though, that pretty much every GM sponsored pro I have ever seen went for the Originals. Never seen a pair of LE's on the tv etc

2011 puma calibre pads and pink puma ballistic gloves. Got last years calibre gloves as spares. Toyed with the idea of getting some Wymer customs but decided against it.

Thanks for the tip off on the Silvers, was going to see if any ended up being cleared to make way for 2012 ones but will save my hands now! Hadn't noticed that with the gm's, did p jayawardene not wear the le's?

Have the new Ayrtek ones been released yet Sim? Bit out of touch with everything at the moment pal!

Decided on the GM Originals, know you won't like them as they have red ;)

I got an email from Andy to say thanks for expressing an interest and that Marcus would get it touch by the end of the week
