Same with mine, started off around 3'2, stuck 2 more grips and a scuff sheet on and god knows what it would be now!

Was interesting last time i went up to M&H, the guys were telling me that even 'cherries' on the bat can even add up after a prolonged time to add around an ounce to the weight of the bat, although not 100% how correct this is, thoughts?

My old m&h gained an ounce over a few seasons so maybe!

Very easily. 25g to the ounce, roughly and 100 cherries, wouldn't be at all surprised!

yeah, but when taping a few mars bars to my bat to see what a heavier weight is like it makes loads of difference

Was going to say a 2.8 and a 2.12 feel so different its quite surprising how close the weights are.

looks like just under 75% of players go 2'10 or below. Makes me wonder why many batmakers and retailers keep selling bats on this forum a fair bit heavier. Very odd.

Preferred weight for me is 2'7-2'8 but I can never find something meaty enough in that weight. End up going for 2'9 with a good pickup. Tends to give me enough weight and wood to do the job.

I used to use around 2.10 but after using a mates 2.7 bdm in a net I now use that weight. I play more correct and I'm quite a powerful guy so don't really notice any performance difference.

I've got a slazenger v2 county and it feels like a wand.

If you're looking to bat 35-45 overs I think a heavier bat fatigues you a lot more, even though you might hit a few more boundaries. I value bat speed and timing over pure power!

not really - most of us are a) bat geeks and b) play seriously.  Over 80% of the players in this country and not in category a) and many of those barely fall in category b - and if you look at the average Sunday side where none of them have to face anyone of any pace, they tend to go for 3lb biffers!

I face decent pace and use a 3lb and I'm not that old cheeky ;)

If it suits you a heavy bat can correct your technique as a light one has done above as helps to stop you swinging as hard and sachin has used a 3lb for a double hundred  and seemed fine not to mention gayles couple of triple hundreds so it's what suits a batsmen as I can use a 3lb bat for 50 overs and have done

I have to agree not many about can handle decent pace with a big bat as I know lads my size that use 2lb10 as any heavier they are late so it's a funny old game

I use 2'11 or 2'12!
Used to use massive 3lb bats when i was younger, but could never play the pull.
Worked on it with a lighter bat recently and it's a lot better

After seeing some of the sizes of roco's bats, and seeing him play the short ball, have to say he handles big bats and pace very well!
