I think they look a bit (No Swearing Please) really. There are about a dozen small brands with identical pads to these. Yes they are light and cheap but you get what you pay for, which isn't much....

P.s. A guy I played with last year had similar. Reminded me of what we used to wear in the eighties just with Velcro straps.

You can get very good quality moulded pads from india if you pay a bit extra for some manufacturs.  The cheap moulded pads are poor quality

How can you tell the difference? By looks alone?

You would have to see them in person really. I had a couple of indian team mates who had moulded pads from different companies and there is a noticeable difference in quality in material they are made from eg. the facing, lining and velcro

I reckon the first person to sell some decent quality morrant lookalikes, at the right price, will make a killing on this forum.

personally i would just go the BAS BOW 20/20.

They cost a little more but they look the part. If they had them here in aus i would be eager to snap a pair up!

Yep, sometimes the finishing in these smaller companies might not be so great. But then again some of these are quite well finished as well. But all will offer good value.

The smaller companies have less costs to contend with like insurance, employee insurance and contracts, and they do not need middle-men--- so the cost for these AMSU like pads will be less than 15 pounds normally.

Also subtract the cost of advertising and sponsorship and the low cost seems even more plausible.
