AMSU Pads
« on: January 14, 2012, 09:22:24 AM »

A couple of guys at my club have AMSU superlite batting pads, and I must comnfess they are amongst the best I have ever seen.

They are similar in style and design to the Morrants but better looking.

Now, the guys at my club have told me that AMSU are an Indian brand that are manufactured purely for Indian domestic consumption and are not for export.

I have Googled AMSU and those guys wren't kidding - you literally can find nothing on them. No pictures, nothing.

The only thing I have found is that AMSU as a sporting goods manufacturer does actually exist.

Some of the Indian lads on this forum would have seen these pads in their trips to India and know what I am talking about.

Simply awesome in every way.

If anyone has a pair, could you please take some pics and put them up in the forum here so everyone can see what I am talking about.

There is literally not one pic on all of the internet of these pads.

I might have to get a hold of Ranjit and photograph his with my phone, but as he plays in the 5ths and I in the 3rds, we are rarely in the same place at the same time.

That may be our best bet for everyone to see what I am talking about.

I am amazed that companies can exist that produce only for the internal Indian market...they don't even have a webpage for heavens sake!

There's hundreds of little backstreet cricket houses in India, some of them are re-badged from other manufacturers whereas others actually take on a lot of outsourced work from the bigger guys.

I'm interested to see pics of these though, sound cool.

They sound interesting Vic, are they PU faced or cloth? I admit the cloth facing of Morants is what puts me off owning a pair.

Here is what they look like.

Ranjit informs me that they cost 1000 rupees in India - which equates to $20AUSD or 13 pound.

He is going to grab me a pair when he next goes to India in a few months.

I saw these at a sports shop when I went to India, they were very light but I didn't try them on as I was more there to pick myself a bat.

RSB's are stiff and wide, I hate them with a passion.

OK---- these guys--- I have heard their names in the past; If I am not mistaken I have seen folks using them. I think they make bats too. Will check out with my Punjabi friend tomorrow.
