Waxing/Polishing a bat
« on: January 16, 2012, 05:58:58 PM »

Hi, just wondering what's used to finish and wax/polish a bat before it leaves the workshop - doing a few refurbs and want the bat to look good.

On my refurbs I use Bri-Wax, after 3 different grades of sanding and some wire wool. Just apply the wax, leave overnight and buff the next day.

Here's one I did recently:

Cheers buddy.

@JoeHig: The longer you leave the wax to soak in the better.

This is the stuff I mean...

me and ryan just used beeswax...

put it onto the batt then use the polishing mop on the bench grinder to buff it up

That's on my shopping list then. My newly pressed cleft is hopefully on its way back from H4L so I can get cracking. Can't wait!

Cheers Tom, I'll get some of that then. I've used beeswax in the past but I don't think it gives a great finish personally.

yeah have allways used it with a mop even if its only with mop bit on the end of a drill..

you get a really nice shine to it :)

I would say that would give a better finish than by hand.

yeah, me and simmy have been using this and then buffing using a buffing wheel on the bench grinder. seems to do a good job.
