Your Pro or overseas 2012 & past
« on: January 16, 2012, 07:59:32 PM »

Have any of your teams (if lucky enough) signed any pro's or overseas for this season yet?

Be interested to know what calibre of players some of you are going to have for this season and who you have had the pleasure of sharing the your name on the same teamsheet.

Hopefully our overseas is coming back this year but it's always the doubt we get every year

We don't pay a pro/overseas out of principle - in the past we have Steven Moore play for us (opens the bat at Lancashire) and a few guys we have had to register, but eveyone pays to play for us!

My current league is strictly amateur only, whereas in contrast to buzz, the previous 2 leagues I played in insisted that every team has 1 pro.

Best I've played with were NZ test player Matt Sinclair and Pakistani test player Shadab Kabeer

We have a South African called Jandre Coetzee. Don't know too much about him but seems to have decent figures. His batting average is higher than his bowling average which is always a good sign.

You play for Sudbury? ^ Faced him the year before last home and away, at home i batted low down.. came in at the end and he bowled 6 yorkers out of 6, too quick to get near them. Away i opened the batting against him, swung it both ways at pace. Took a few blows on the body that day. Class bowler

It is rare that any team in our league does not have a pro or overseas of the last 10 years or so.
Our team have had a few. When we were in the prem league we had Anthony Palladino, as all prem league teams have someone from Essex cc play for them. Although overseas/pro's are not always what they are cracked up to be. We had a player called Roger Telemachus, one day player for South Africa and trust me he wasnt much.

According to our pro's last year, north west divisions have alot of decent pro's playing.

I remember playing against your lot at your place and creaming Palladino through the covers for 4, I didn't see the next ball and my stumps went everywhere....

I also remember playing against you when you had Chris Drum and we still beat you ;)

No mate Rawtenstall in the Lancs league and you have just put a smile on my face. I've seen him listed as left arm medium on some sitees and fast medium on others. What do you reckon?

We must have had the famous Hcc batting collapse. Drum was a class act, not a mass of pace but decent lines and lengths.

My club had Aizaz Cheema about 6 years ago, who may play for Pakistan against England tomorrow. My mate is the 1st team 'keeper, and said it was a painful experience.

Best pro I've seen is Steve Pope at my old club Truro CC, a South African batsmen who had an unbelievable amount of time when at the crease compared with anybody else I've seen close up. Always averaged around the 80-90 mark in his 3 seasons at the club.
