Clubs Preseason Training

Out of interest what does your indoor sessions consist of just nets or fielding practice or fitness.

Just after feedback as we have indoor traing every 3 weeks indoors(2hr session)

Personal feeling fitness can be done outside.

We generally just net. There has been some talk of alternating net sessions this year with Gym or Swiming sessions but I can't imagine the turn-out will be great.

My personal opinion is that fitness should be up to the individual at amateur level. The time you do have together training should be spent on skills and technique, fitness training is something that varies for everyone so its very difficult to cater for in large groups.

I will certainly be upping my fitness training from now on as my club have strengthened significantly and I want to be sure of my place!

My view also we could do fitness on one of the other sundays where we dont have net sessions runs etc. rather than eat into time for indoor sessions.

Sorry to bring up a bit of a dead topic but...

I think it depends what level your club plays at. If you're playing in your county/regional premier league then I can understand fitness being a big deal as at that level you need everybody to be in tip top shape.

If you're playing low level village cricket however, like myself and I'm guessing many others on here then fitness has never been a priority and trying to force fitness regimes onto the members is only going to send members away which is never a good idea especially considering the amount of teams that have folded in the last few years..

Training sessions are for netting(and maybe some fielding for those that need it..) at my level, you can work on fitness in your own time.
