Wow P-cock, you are almost mirroring me (albeit better at the diet bits I feel!)

I am 17.2 at the moment (down from 18.6 a year ago, but that's more through luck than strict dieting) - I too would like to be around 15 stone for the start of the season. I'm back in the gym, no alcohol for last 2 weeks. Cutting down on carbs too.

Please keep us updated, I'd be fascinated in how it goes for you over the weeks.

One thing I cannot get on with though - is trying to run!!!!!!
Cheers buddy.
No not big on running myself especially after my knee injury last year and that is one reason to get the weight off as i know it wasnt helping.
Will post updates as to progress and let you know how it all goes
.
Good luck to you too, if i remember rightly arent we very close in age too ?

I found it fairly easy to cut the crap that I was eating but after tea I still hanker for something sweet.

you're doing bloodywell, whats your target weight? The diet sounds quite Atkins esque to me with the low carbs, do you feel deprived. my mums following slimming world so i'm getting involved too (without the meetings!)

my mum runs her own slimming world club, she lost 5 stone over the past year so theres plenty of pressure on me

well done mate, forget running stick some headphones in yr ears and start walking,1st half a mile, then a mile, etc, keep it up every week even a mile a week will work.
cut out
bread
potatoes,
pasta,
cheese,chocolate,crisps
beer
it works, trust me i've done it.dont eat after 8pm at night.
Keep doing the same things to keep the weight off-it's staying on this diet even when the weight comes down that will keep the weight off-it's starts to come back on if you dont
plenty of water all thou the day.
it works-good luck

I eat bread everyday so if I eat whole wheat bread or even non-whole weight with high fibre is that not okay?

it's very hard to avoid bread,a sandwich at lunchtime most people have.
if you can't cut it out completley brown seeded/high fibre is best.
it's not easy to do I agree, most people have difficulty avoided it altogether.

I've got it down to 2 slices of brown multi grain (toasted) per day.
If you can cut right down it makes a huge difference, same with pasta,potatoes...
It's very hard to lose weight, anyone who says any different is lying.People of who have serious weight problems don't want to be that big.

once you have lost the weight,it's as hard to keep it off.Which is why some people's weight yo-yo's up and down.

Totally think we should resurrect fat club. Having to record your weight publicly in a weekly basis is a great motivator to try and make people stick to a healthier regime

Great work fellas.  I'm losing weight as well.  I started on the 29th October at which point I weighed 21st 5lb.  This morning I weighed 18st 5lb so have managed to shift 3st.  I'm doing a similar thing.  I've basically cut out all complex carbs, so no bread, rice, pasta, potatoes etc.  The only real exception is the porridge that I have in the mornings.  I eat plenty of meat, fish and eggs for protein, and lots of vegetables.  I'm training for the London marathon so I'm doing plenty of exercise, but I think it is the diet that is key to the weight loss.  I've now got into a virtuous circle - because what I'm doing is working I don't want to jeopardise it, and therefore I've been really good at not cheating.  And I too haven't had a drink in 2012, and don't intend to until I have done the marathon.

I'm glad that there's a few of us out there trying to lose a bit.  We should all keep encouragin one another.  A Custom Bats Fat Club so to speak!

I believe that unleavened bread such as Pitta or wraps may be a little less damaging for you?

your right Fattus Cattus, pitta bread is better.

it's the carbs..if you can cut down or cut out the weight does come off.It ain't easy but it works

well done to all of you.
Plenty of liquid thou during the day.Beer is a nightmare for putting it on quickly

But even those of strict diets can have the odd treat.

if that's a pint for you occasionally-have it  :)
if it's a bar of chocolate have it.  :)
