Ultimate for me anyway.
Back in 2009 I had a Kookaburra Blade. It was 2lbs 6oz and had tiny edges with a lot of concaving. I hit my first 50 with that bat, my timing must have been impeccable for that innings as you really needed to find the middle with the weight and the profile. Then I moved on to a champ sports bat which I got from hit4six, this bat was 2lbs 9oz, felt similar to the Blade but had a lot less concaving. I fell in love with this bat and even sold on a Redback Premier so I could use the champ for a second season. When the champ broke first game in I got my Talisman. This was 2lbs 10oz and had a decent size edges and no concaving. I scored a lot of runs with this bat. When it broke I bought an Ayrtek, a very different profile to the Talisman and more closely related to the blade. Its 2lbs 9oz and has decent size edges but a bit of concaving. I scored 50 first time out with the Ayrtek, but again it felt like I really had to middle it for it to feel good in the hands.
This is where the next bat enters the situation. Bulldog Basher, bought for £48 in the sale from Kieron. I had no idea what profile to expect and was just buying it as it was cheap with the view of it being a spare bat of sold onto a team mate. Basically, a very similar if not identical profile to the Talisman and a similar weight. No concaving and nice edges.
It is just a dream to use! It feels good anywhere off the bat, (except the toe, but thats the same with all bats!) The pick up is sublime. I can seriously see this being my match bat for this season, along with the Talisman, when it turns up!
Specs
2lbs 10oz
25mm edges
55mm spine
No concaving
I will definitely be keeping this bat and getting it copied when it gives up!
