Two Strap Pads
« on: February 04, 2012, 10:51:01 PM »

I guess I have always preferred traditional style pads (cane) but am considering some light weight pads as my next buy... seeing more and more "modern" style pads with just two straps.

How are they for comfort?

In particular Puma pads?

In my opinion the morrants are the best ones. I have never looked back since using these.

I use these, 600g per pad. Decent pad for the money.

My opening partner uses those, they are extremely light but I've always felt (rightly or wrongly) that feeling like you're wearing something provides some reassurance you have protection...

There are one of the pads that got me thinking... along with there: (ok I know they're not two strap but many puma ones are...)

So are they more comfortable than three strap?

Do you really notice the middle strap when you're out in the middle? For me it doesn't make much difference at all, the grip, or hold is the same.

The way I wear my pads mean the top strap does all the holding on and the other 2 just do up so they don't flap about!

No, I don't notice any difference. Due to my dwarf like legs, the 3 strap always seemed to halfway up my thigh and offering little or no benefit as it had to remain fairly loose.

My son used tradional pads but complained that when batting for a length of time the pads started to "bug" him on the back of his knees.

Bought him some Morrant ones and not had one complaint yet... They are so light its amazing. I threw a lot of balls down at him and let them just hit his pads so he knew how safe they were.... He says he could hardly feel the ball hitting him.. Result...

IMO well worth the money... :)
