Definitely take those back to the shop where you bought them from. They will probably replace them straight away for you.

Thanks for the advice your not patronising at all, its good to get advice from other keepers. You may be right, I haven't kept for about 8 years, my movement behind the stumps standing up is still spot on but you could be right with regards to why my hands hurt.

I've never worn two pairs of inners before last night so I will give what you suggest a try. The kooks silvers do appear to have a very thin face but look decently padded and I don't think its gel.

I have some SS Gladiators that I will try with one pair of inners next week and see how it goes. I might even have my own glove off trying all the pairs I've got :)

I have contacted the supplier of the Kooks and sent them the picture so I await their reply and will report accordingly.

It could be that I'm just too old. lol

You are never too old mate!
The Kooks definitely aren't gel palms. I have a pair of SS Gladiators as well and they seem pretty well padded compared to the Kooks.

Ta mate,

When I started keeping 40 years ago, gloves were simple and i still have a pair of Alan Knott 'test' gloves by Slazenger.

I lost interest (don't ask why) and then when I return there's gel palms, non gel palms, flourescent gloves and octopus pimples.

Are gel palms better than non gel?

That's good. Personally I have found gel palm gloves to feel a bit bulky without such a good feel although I think it probably comes down to a balance so they could potentially be good like the old Easton gloves were.

97notout, here's a little more from my technical analysis  :D

if you hold an empty glove by the cuff and throw a ball into the middle of it, the glove will wrap around the ball. this is known as physics  ;)

my point, if you follow, is that your hands don't really need to do any catching at all - that will happen as a matter of course as long as you get the gloves in line with the ball. therefore, all you need to do is keep your hands relaxed and focus on getting your head, body and arms in line with the delivery.

does that make sense?

from what you say above, your footwork is still sharp, so hopefully relaxing your hands will help to cushion the ball and stop it from hurting.

personally i have good hands and terrible footwork because i'm tall and slow :) luckily my reflexes make up for my lack of positioning a lot of the time!

Thanks mate, I am 5'8" so that may help movement wise side to side but has a downside for the short pitched stuff.

The advice is great thanks and I will look at it next net session.  :)

Having took the advice of richthekeeper nets were a lot better last night. Made even better by the fact I used my SS Sundridges. I had a bit of a glove off and have decided that the LE's will be my main glove with the 'Gladiator' as a back up pair.
Got to say that Kooks Silver Classics are not a patch on the SS gloves.

The LE's are on the left, Gladiator on the right. SS half chamios :)
Got about 5 pairs of assorted wicket keepers gloves to sell now......lol

Just out of interest what made you go for the LEs over the Gladiators? I tried both on at Uzi and preferred the feel of the Gladiators but obviously didn't compare the two in use

They just seemed so much more comfortable and seemed to fit as soon as I put them on, as though they were meant for my hands.

They're the gloves I have at the moment, and that's how they felt when I first put mine on, they're lush, just a shame the webbing ripped :(

Not the best photo in the world but my KAS kicked in whilst searching onlinestockists and I couldn't resist these 2012 Blue LE gloves as used by Kumar Sangakara.
Will post better pics and views when they arrive :)

Just taken delivery of the 2012 Boom Boom signature gloves and the beautiful M&H tan leather ones.

I have to say there's a huge difference. The BB are much more flexible while the M&H have a thickly padded palm. The presentation froom M&H couldn't be more professional, with high quality materials from the mesh bag they come in through to the suede inserts on the backhand.

As for cut, the M&H has a rounder cuff but is actually more "traditional" length. The BB has a shorter, squarer cuff rather like the Puma or SS gloves that are so popular at the moment.

I really like both gloves but the M&H make me go "ahhh" every time i put them on, so those are the ones I'll be keeping!

M&H and Boom Boom are my favourite this season!
