How long after oiling before Knocking in
« on: February 11, 2012, 07:46:32 PM »

Sorry have tried searching but couldn't find anything.

Have given my new bat a light oiling how long should I wait before knocking in.

This is what I do:

One coat overnight.

Next night one more coat.

3rd night--- oil the backside.

From the 4th day I start knocking in my bat. James Laver says 3 coats of oil on the face and maybe the same at the back. Search for Millichamp knocking-in video on youtube and he recommends even more oiling.

I usually knock the bat with a mallet before putting a scuff sheet on the face.

Wait until it's dry. Then you're good to go.
