Hi guys,

I'm a real stickler for having a clean bat face, and after a winter of playing air cricket against a mirror I've noticed some ugly stains and marks on the face, edges and back of the willow.

I was wondering how you guys got rid of them-I've seen nail polish remover recommended but I'd like some convincing that it wouldn't ruin the grain.

if its on the wood then a little sand paper, I had marks on my scuff sheet and got them off with flash...they were gone in a flash

Nail polish remover works a treat if it's on the scuff sheet. If it's on the wood itself, then a light sanding will do.

Yeah it's on the wood itself cos I didn't wanna cover the blade over the winter. Thanks, I'll try some sandpaper, but I always end up making a hash of it and the bat usually feels really rough when I'm done!

It's all about different gauge of sandpaper. Start with low numbers and work upto about 2000 gauge

You can get cherries off of the willow with a very light helping of nail varnish remover/white spirit too. Never changed my bats at all.
