Training drills for the katchet
« on: February 16, 2012, 02:47:29 PM »

Have just bought a katchet for the club and was wondering what drills people use them for. We have a bowling machine to use them with and the only thing Incan think off is to out the B/Machine on the floor and fire balls into it for slip catching

What do you guys do with yours?

You can use it similarly to a guy with a bat giving slip catches. get him to hold the Katchet and angle it. can be quite good as you get random angles if your angling it towards 3rd slip but it hits a ridge taking it straighter. good to keep slips on their toes.

can also do the matt prior keeping drills which he demo's on sky. think it can still be found on the topic on here.

Katchet has just arrived, just in time for my planned catching session with the juniors later.

However, our bowling machine is out of action so I will have to rely on my arm and bowling machine balls tonight. Is it just as effective with this method?

its set up at 45mph of about 10-12 yards...

we found some old poles and cut them down to about 1m high so the bowling machine is flat. then just away you go!

doesnot work from normal bowling machine hight

Not sure if I could find some old poles anywhere.

For the catching, what speed do you have it set at? And do you use e 3oz balls for catching drills as they are easier on the hands?
