My new H4L
« on: February 22, 2012, 04:56:07 PM »

In recent past while browsing around i noticed Matt had "3 bats up for grabs", 2 were the 666 Devils and 1 was a demo bat. While i was drooling over potentially making an offer on one of the 2 devils my eye wandered to the right of image and noticed a loverly little bat that was "demo" so i looked at the pics a millon times and got in touch with Matt to have it sent over.

Now my expectations were high but not as high as they would have been had i ordered one of the "Regular" bats. Anyways it showed up, i love all their stickers (Excell and Hattori being my favorite) it beat my expectations. About 12 perfect grains, little heartwood on the inside edge, awesome pick up and huge spine, edges are small but it adds variety to my collection and I am looking forward to knocking / using this puppy, finish on the bat is really good

Apologies in advance for poor pics, light must remain dim and no flash photography allowed in my household or the little one won't sleep  :(, also no mallet/ball tests were allowed yesterday due to the same reasons...

This is lovely shape, my favourite shape in Hell4Leathers! I hope it serves you well and I hope you do extremely well with this!

Whats the weight? And is the handle regular oval or thick oval?

Thanks CD, As per Matt's post it is supposed to be 2.10, I would say it felt like it too but pick is lighter. I cant use the techincal terms but pick-up and feel of the bat when swinging felt great.

Will prolly try the mallet on it tonight and then its a week long process of oiling and knocking :)

Looks a stunning stick :), I'm sure it will go well off the mallet and with a ball as mine does!

You must repeat after me, I must buy, I must buy, I must buy, you are showing the classic symptoms of Kit Acquisition Syndrome. There is no cure, you can only feed your habit. I have it, the hosk definately has it and by the looks of it a fair few others do.
I sought psychiatric help and they said become a wicket keeper you can get even more stuff, it worked I have loads of kit including two lovely H4Ls.

Like, I definitely have a problem  :D and kinda like it. Just got me a Laver "the cave man club" Legacy bat  :-[

Now a question abt H4L's pressing, are they generally soft pressed? this bats seems fairly soft when bouncing the ball on the bat, i kinda enjoyed it, gave the same feel as my newbery but better/easier to handle.

i dont think they are pressed soft no.

they are pressed perfect!

i have had 3 of Matts bats ive used them pretty much straight away knocked the toe in and top of bat in for about an hour then used it in a game went like a rocket!

the excel monster is now fully knocked in and soft after a year and its amazing, when you are just knocking the ball up and down on the blade the bat will feel much more springly when its new, when its used the wood softerns up and u loose the spring when tapping the ball up and down on it, but when u play propa shots the soft wood stays in contact with the ball longer and generates more power.
