Is this repairable or only good for firewood?
« on: February 24, 2012, 04:41:29 PM »

Hi Guys,

Got a bat here which is 2 seasons old. It has treated me very well and the middle still goes, however there is a what looks to me like a very bad issue with breaks around the toe areas. The cracks aren't visible up the bat therefore I do not know how deep they are.

i was wondering what your views are on this and any suggestions as to the best place to get it repaired (if it can be?)

Apologies for my poor camera work!

Thanks,
Rich

Try and shove as much glue as possible into the cracks then cut about 2cm of an old grip and put this over the toe as a clamp.

Hope that works.

I would take that to a bat maker and they wuld be able to advise!
I would recommend glue, dowels and possibly a treatment where they bind it tightly and when the binding glue dries out it gets even tighter.
But a decent bat maker would be able to assess the damage better.
There would be no guarantees but if it's your favourite bat then you would surely try your best to prolong it's life!

Yeah I'd say so. Let me know if you want me to have a go...worth a try.

Hold on to it in case they make a (second) sequel to Tremors and need it for a model!

I can't understand why you haven't used either a toe guard or shoo goo. If its a top performing bats I'd say it'd be a must. Anyway it is repairable though.
