Pick me a bat!
« on: February 28, 2012, 02:19:09 PM »

Hi guys,

Looking for a new bat for the 2012 season (nets start on Monday, so I've left it a bit late!) and so I've been scanning the forum recently.

I have a budget of around £150, but am really tempted to shell out the extra 50 notes and get a G1 Rob Pack Blueroom New Wave - or I might just get a G2/3 for 170/150. Will there be much difference or will I live to regret my choice?

My other real options are a GM 909, or a Solitaire - but reviews on these seem mixed, as some tend to be wonky and heavier than ordered.

I'm in Sheffield, so haven't really got a batmaker within travelling distance and I'd be ordering 'blind' for delivery.

That's currently my three-bat shortlist, as SAF bats seem just a bit out of my price range but I may be persuaded by other recommendations!

Cheers!

Did you want New or used? as some guys on here might have a used G1 bat for you, Also put up what sort of weight your after so the Forum sponsors can get an idea of what they may have in their shops.

Of course mate sorry, I'm after something fairly light so around 2lb 8oz/2lb 9oz. I play midweek cricket so I need something that I can try and slog with! And we play on artificial pitches at home, so quite a low middle would suit me best I reckon. I scored a few runs with a GM Maxi LE I had a few years ago, so something like that shape could be good!

mate you inbox is full...

you can have this for 110 posted if you would like

I paid Keiron him 150 to get it shipped here (Canada) and I can send it to you for 110 posted. It is 2.8, sounds great off the mallet, never used, oiled or knocked, literally brand new. I got distracted by the grains and did not even look at the weight and realized it was too light for me so will never use it

See pics here, its the one with 17 grains

Who do you play for in Sheffield? I'm up here too and play midweek for HSBC.

As for the bat, I've had a cracking redback and bulldog since joining this forum and both were grade 2 so I don't think it matters too much if you didn't want to spend the extra cash.

Never had a redback, ppl talk highly of them, bulldogs are great speaking from personal experience now :)

Cheers chaps. Leaning towards a G2 Blueroom - but isn't this basically just a Puma 4000? As Rob makes both I believe!

Not many shouts for Solitaire either??

No idea, all I know is Rob makes the 5000 and 6000 only now. There may well have been the 4000 as well back then mate.

Haha I didn't know rob in 09 so there's no reason to think he didn't do the 4000 as well at one point  :)
