Have to say one guy on my own team winds me up. Byo hit him for a straight six and he was giving it "ooooohhh" as if he was close to getting him out haha

Nothing worse than the internal facepalmery when your own team-mate is being a dick!

Hit the nail on the head haha. He's a good guy, and we've just learned to accept it and laugh it off but sometimes you can't help it

Got to admit I found that quite amusing!!   :D

Not much winds me up, just smile and get on with it - the bowler always has another ball, although when I was bowling last year I got smashed for a 6 and the batsman said I was the worst spinner he ever faced.  Got him out the next ball which was highly amusing - just smiled at him as he walked past!!!

tbh tho its allways the bad bowlers that get u out haha :P

Sledging is a common tactics used in all level of crickets to try and unsettle a batsman. A bit is fun but sometimes it is just out of hand. As a batsman I normally remains focused and don't bother with what they come out with. Once they realise you don't care I have seen it decrease drastically. It gets to me when one player from you own team try and make a fool out of himself by sledging a batsman ( Comment is : Go to the Gym) when he just hit a boundary. You cant reason with stupidity.

Enjoying reading some of these stories! Got to love the banter though sometimes... The funniest line I heard off a bowler last season was after I hit him for back to back boundaries was 'I can tell you don't want to do much running today you fat f**king pr*ck'. To which I replied, 'I'll carry on hitting you for four then shall I?' Next ball, straight drive down the ground for four! I was wetting myself, cricket wouldn't be half as fun without banter/sledging!

in an under 15s match a few years ago i turned up late to a 20/20 game after coming back from a French exchange, i was brought onto bowl as soon as i came onto the field, having spent 8 hours on a coach i was quite stiff and my first over went for 12 and when i came back for my second over their opening batsmen was telling the new man in "dont worry this bowlers shyte" 3 overs later with figures of 6-16 i asked him just how shyte i was.  :)

I like to join in with the fielders when they're sledging me, and then as soon as the ball is back in the bowlers hand the focus goes back onto that.  I find it helps with my concentration rather than staying in a "bubble" for the whole innings, not that mine last too long!

Can't quite remember the circumstances other than it was a tight game, with a few comments that had created an 'atmosphere'.

This all changed when a new bat came in and proclaimed 'I like to face bowling like I like my women......  short and slow'.

The game seemed to get a little bit less tense after that.

I'm normally one of the people saying things to put the batsman off in th field rather than being sledged at myself.

But as a bowler you can't beat a glare after a long follow through after a batsman has had a swipe and missed. No words need to be spoken ;)

I think it's got to be getting heckled by the keeper or the slips, especially if I am missing the otside edge regularly.
Then comes, ' He's only got one shot !' when I a do connect with one over to cow corner greated by ' Moo's !'
As I'm 6ft 6 and of rugby build brandishing a 3lb Grizzly, I open myself upto a barrage of names including Barney Bear, Big man etc, you get the picture!
I find a stare can shut some people up especially when you make it perfectly clear they have annoyed you. Or best still, it normally motivates me and gets me focused.
There was a lad bowling last year giving it some verbal, I won the personal battle as he didn't get me out. I gave some back too and he didn't like it, mainly in the form of planting him into the carpark.
It's an age old saying, don't dish it out if you don't like it back.

nothing breaks my concentration. I got a huge amount of chirp when I didn't walk for a fine glove in a game last season. Had keeper, slips on it me for 20 overs. 3 lads in the last over we played were talking, just pulled away 3 times in the over and waited. I just sit in my little bubble and only concentrate on the next delivery.
