I think they lost some status when being bought out by sports HQ which look to sell mass volume of kit rather than lower volume higher quality.

When our skip was working there we got some seriously good gear. Think all the stuff was made at hunts as well before they got cash crazy and flopped out 2006 or whenever it was. Last bat I had was a Globe and it was a top stick. They just never seemed to last  ???

Wouldnt touch them with someone else's now though

Endorsements carry a lot of weight and influence when it comes to brands too.
When KP and Freddie were the main faces of Woodworm, the brand name and sales worldwide would have gone through the roof.
The company would have paid huge sums of money too as they were the most exposive players in cricket at the time. The sponsorship deals probably atributed to their downfall as they would have been a relatively small company compared to the global brands such as GN.
I agree with Tom, The sports HQ have not done great things for the brand nowadays. They seem to sell everything sports related under the woodworm name. If you want to buy a budget set of golf clubs or a tent branded as woodworm then great but I don't see anyone parting with upwards of £200 anymore for a woodworm bat.
At least Malinga and some of the Sri Lankans are still flying the flag!

I have used the Top of the range Black Label softs and they are superb. I have seen some of the lower spec stuff and have to agree it is pants .

The main reason they went under was the rapid expsansion into Golf equipment that really didn't work.

I had 2 sets of gloves from a player last year and as good as any on the market, top end will be good as with most brands.

I know that Bunny Onions' Woodworms are very well regarded in the Durham dressing room, and we all seem to think that Pro's know what they are talking about!

I bought myslef a Woodworm Black Label for last season, if you connect there's no point in chasing the ball, but I must admit I found the bat quite bottom heavy, so the pick up is poor.

I'm waiting for a Shark Great White 5 fin, if anyone uses one it would be great to know what they think of it!

personally i think the case with most woodworm products is that they match some of the better brands with there top of the range (what talisman said) but for me its there middle to lower end which doesnt cut it
