Hi guys,
This is a bit of a strange one. I have been appointed coach/manager of the Great Britain Junior Cricket squad for the Maccabiah Games in Israel in 2013. For those that don't know (I'm presuming pretty much all of you!) the Maccabiah Games are effectively the 'Jewish Olympics'. GB is sending around 500 competitors in total across a number of sports e.g. athletics, football, swimming etc
In terms of the cricket at the games, Australia and South Africa will be strong, and the Israel side is effectively the national side.
We're starting the selection process now, with a view to having a squad together by the end of the summer. Initially we have a trial day at Haberdashers School in Elstree on the 30th April. I'm looking to find as many quality Jewish cricketers as I can (they need to have a Jewish parent, not necessarily consider themselves Jewish or attend synagogue on a regular basis). If anybody out there knows anyone that might be interested in representing their country, please get in touch on this topic or via PM and I can pass you my contact details. In terms of standard I'm looking for guys that are playing at a county or district level first, but if you know people playing a good level of schools/club cricket I would be interested in hearing from them.
Details about the Maccabiah Games can be found here -
