What does everyone think of the MRF Wizard bat? has anyone got one/had one? i'm recieving a second hand one tomorrow, i will post pics etc then.

right, i received the bat today. a lot worse condition than i expected and it had a load of tape around the toe, only to find a big crack under the tape!

never mind i got straigt to work and began to refurb the bat, the pics are below before and after. tell me what you think,

i have to be honest, that bat looks incredibly dry and in need of some oil, it's a shame you've put on the anti-scuff sheet already.

cricket boy- cheers yeah its not too bad, it only cost me �15 and it goes really well so got a bargain

sillyshilly- it must be the pics that make it look dry as i can assure you it is not at all. i also only use scuff sheets on their own and don't bother oiling a bat, unless its really dry, or its been used in the rain.

thats fair enough, it wasnt meant as criticism. like you say, you paid �15 and got a bit of a gun that will last you a while, good times. I've got scuff sheets on my bats but i'm yet to be convinced of their effectiveness.....have they really been proven to enhance the bats life?

fair play mate i didnt see it as criticism. a scuff sheet keeps the face of the bat clean from wet or muddy ball, and it also helps on this bat to keep the crack in place. i dont think they really prolong the bats life but it makes the bat look a lot better lol

Hi Ian - we've been selling the Wizard quite regularly over the last few years and have had good reviews. We still have 3 left, but the shape is not to my personal liking. The face is too flat for me, but then I'm selling, not buying. If your's is fundamentally sound in the middle, then should last you a while.

Hi aswani, cheers for your thoughts however I must disagree with you as I love the shape and it's one of the main reasons I bought it! This particular bat is very light and only weighs about 2'7 so I'm thinking of selling it as it's way too light for me to use, however it would be unfair to put a highish price on it considering the crack.

Ian, hope I haven't offended but t'was only my personal taste on bat shapes. The Wizard shape gives it a good balance as the weight is spread along the length of the bat. Must say you've made it look much better with the refurb!

My brother has the Wizard 400 LE I like it, its not the greatest bat in terms of grain/ping but its very light perfect for spin, the fast bowlers hit the bat very hard and it doesnt feel very nice its a good bat. We bought it second hand (used only twice) but if i bought it brand new for $500AUD i would have been very dissapointed.

My brother bought it for $260AUD

not offended at all mate, thats what the forum is all about- sharing views! i would also agree with you master blaster as the ping of the bat is not near as good to my m and h. but the pick up and weight of the bat is very good.

i think the MRF profiles a pretty similar to Woodworms.
