Got well and truly destroyed yesterday!

http://chard.play-cricket.com/scoreboard/scorecard.asp?id=11360415

Saw you whacked it though yesterday mate, good work!

I suffered from the old classic 6 and out yesterday. Was on about 3 or 4 and received a fell toss on leg stump which I hit over the longest boundary on the ground for 6, then the next ball was exactly the same and was caught by the man on the mid wicket boundary! Lost by 3 wickets in the end after hitting 184. Ex-Glouscester pro Tim Hancock smashed a brilliant 79 for the oppo

He's just too good! Was enjoyable watching him bat though, until he ruined my thumb when he whacked it to me along the ground at cover..

My torrid season continues. Got a text on Friday saying I was called into the 1's due to a few cry offs. Was initially a bit sulky about it, as with a batting average of 8, no bowling average (due to no wickets yet) but an economy rate at around 6, I clearly wasn't being picked on merit. In my eyes there ought to have been 2-3 players ahead of me in the pecking order.

Anyway, it transpired that we really were pretty short, and in the circumstances maybe I was the next best person available. Still wasn't really looking forward to it, as was expecting to bat 7-8.

Anyway, after we warmed up, the skipper took me to one side and told me he wanted to open the batting! Bonus! Felt slightly guilty, since there were probably at least 2 other guys in the team who deserved the opportunity more than me, but at the same time really chuffed, as opening for the 1's is what I'm aiming to do by the end of the season.

Anyway, we lost the toss and they chose to bowl. I was in a much better mood now and I think it was reflected in my fielding. I threw myself around a fair bit and made some decent diving stops.

They posted 205-8 from 45 overs, which given that the pitch was flatter than an unlucky hedgehog, didn't seem like an unattainable target.

Unfortunately my stay at the crease lasted 2 balls. With me and my opening partner having hit a single a piece I was adjudged caught behind from the 3rd delivery of the innings. Bit of a funny one really. Was a good ball, and there was definitely a 'click' at the right moment, but I honestly didn't think I nicked it. In fact I felt I'd missed it by a fair bit, but 11 fielders, my batting partner, all the spectators plus most importantly the umpire disagreed :(

I assume it will be a swift return to the 2's next week. I'm 25-4 for the season now. Feel like I'm batting better then at any point bin the last 3-4 years. Why can't I score runs!!!!

We ended up woefully short on 134-9, partly due to good bowling (to be fair they are probably the best bowling attack in the league) but also due to some poor umpiring too.

Have to say it felt really luckless too. They had their fair share of runs scored with false shots that kept looping into gaps and mis-hits that evaded out fielders, whereas when we batted everything seemed to go to hand plus they seemed to get more decisions.

Oh well. At least the 2's won!

Well village first rounds were today. We had long lee cc. An Ayrtek lid and a fatbat on show from the oppo. We were very very poor but pulled it together and got the job done. How did everyone else get on

Need to stop rush of blood running myself out.

Having pulled a short ball for 4 + played a nice drive for 2.

Lean on a cover drive speeding to short boandary fielder just cuts it out decide on second.  Get sent back but not on time + get run out.

Not best pleased as there player umpiring gave leg bye when there batsman padded up moved knee further to leg side + bat still in air.

Then allow runner for their batsman only for umpire to run off to come as runner.  As obviously quickest. They were 5 5own so othe choices.

Finally played our first game yesterday. Fielded first and oppo got 184, should have been a few less as some our fielding was poor. Kept ok, no missed chances but annoyed with 2 sets of 4 byes  >:(

Fell 16 short in the chase which was disappointing with 5 of us including me making the 20s but not going on. Stuck a full toss from the worlds biggest pie bowler down long on's throat which was frustrating as the new Redback was going well. Should really have got the runs as the bowling was pretty friendly but after having had no friendlies or outdoor nets due to the weather we were understandably rusty

After all the batting work i'm putting in at the nets and with Buzz, I can't get above 9 in the order and I can't get a bat! We've been 5 down and 6 down so far.

Keep getting picked to bowl my ridiculous lobs though!?!

It's a funny old world!

Got 19 yesterday off 16 balls for the 1s and a catch, did not bowl but we won a good game which is good. Caught legside by the keeper from a spinner.

Won today too, got 42 from 29 before being stumped, got 3 wickets for maybe 30+ from 6 overs. Haven't looked at the scorecard as had to shoot off.

Still unbeaten this season :D

3rd game of the season and our 2nd win although a very ordinary day for me personally however i did contribute with a stand of 40. I made 19 with the bat which was nothing special however it was a very wet deck and not easy in any way as it was slow however no seam which helped. Bowling i got through 10 overs 0-15 was my figures which were nothing special although i hit a good line i was too full so i kept it tight but didn't look like ripping through them.

I haven't bowled or had a knock in more than 3 weeks due to the weather in the north east so here's hoping it will dry up, a lot of games up here were off so im happy with a win although im struggling a bit today as it was so so cold yesterday.
