We won a rain reduced game. Down to 34 overs we batted first and set 127 on a horrible soggy dog wicket. I opened and felt really good, until 10 weeks of netting in a sports hall took it's toll and instinctively got into position to hook a ball that subsequently didn't get above knee height and was bowled for single figures.

They got about 110 for 9, but that's a little flattering to them, as they only managed to get that close due to a couple of sixes in the last over. Really good win against a team that are normally hard to beat on their home ground

Beat Bridgwater 1st's yesterday, in a Sunday League game (odd I know). Batted first, hit 191-6 on a slow pudding off a pitch off 40 overs, opened up, got a quickfire 17 and 'played myself into contention for a first team slot' according to the skipper. Bowled them out for 160 in the 40th over. 2 from 2, from pre-season so far, and not a bad result against a 90% strength Bridgwater team that finished 3rd in WEPL 1 last season, with our team missing some very key players!

Yes mate, they were pretty much full strength too. With Boggo out injured for the foreseeable future, I've got a chance to cement a place so dead happy! How did you get on yesterday? Get a game in?

Yeah Lansdown did really well to get the game on to be honest!

The Aussie isn't really overseas as he's got an English passport I think, he played a few games for Derbyshire 2's last year. Really sound guy- http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/content/player/461157.html

Fair enough. Heard that Ian Harvey was rumoured to play in WEPL this year and possibly Bedminster

Played yesterday it peed it down on and off and eventually the game got rained off. We fielded first and I returned to keeping wicket for the first time in 8 years (well playing cricket for the first time in 8 years).

Took a catch, one silly bye in a total of 137 on a pudding of a wicket. I am apparantly the discovery of the year, I'll wait to see if I'm still the same when I've dropped a couple.....lol.

I'ts good to be back but I can't understand why my 52 year old legs are sore today.  :)

Yeah I think the club are gonna try and get him to play a few games, he was down the club on Friday having a beer or two and seems to be there quite a lot!

Played my 2nd game of the weekend today at Westbury in Wiltshire, we managed to get a solid 8 overs of cricket in before it was rained off! We batted first and got to 41-3, lost our aussie and skipper early on and then another wicket fell. I opened and finished 31* before the heavens opened, which was a bit better than yesterday. Although running 5 3's and an all run 4 was definitely not part of the plan!

Surprisingly had a full game on Saturday, considering Friday lunch time it was looking doubtful. Batted at 6 in the 1's( normally open in the 3's but this was a mix of all 3 sides) and was out for 4 trying to put the bowler over the fence and into the shops on the other side of the road. We were all out for 179 with an over to go and bowled them out for 91 in around 25 overs.

Spotted the Ninja stickers on the bat, had we batted my Ninja stickered wand would have got an airing.

I think it was the Ninja the edge came off for my catch.

Utmost respect it was a very thin edge and he walked. All round nice guy.

Is expect him to walk he's a decent guy much better bat than most in that league. He won the league batting in about ten innings last year but bottles it on the first team. Decent victim tho  :D
