Played an entertaining game today in the Gloucestershire cup, the oppo racked up 320 with their overseas getting 110. In reply we gave them a good run but were bowled out for 264. I batted at 3 and hit about a run a ball 44 which was pleasing against a 1st XI attack, hit 3 sixes which was also nice but a shame we lost :(

won our cup game today and now in the quarter finals. Batted first on we thought a decent deck but proved to be a little too slow for everybodies liking. We collapsed to 30-4 before getting 132-9 in 40 overs. The oppo were racing along at 40-1 off 10, before collapsing to 84ao. Game went off the boil thanks to some inconsistent umpiring. Umpires miscounting overs, not calling over waste height beamers and then deciding to do it once it was getting dangerous and giving some pretty rank decisions, ignoring the plumb ones lol. Both teams paid £30 to each umpire for this chaos.

I top scored in the match with 40 and bowled 8-3-14-2, could've been alot more in both cases.

With this lovely weather, i'm glad that I have recently been playing 2 games a weekend.

Saturdays game, was premier league against Wimborne. We bowled first, in the heat! Was horrible, and felt like it dragged on for ages. We had a good start, getting them 3 down for not very many. Then they had a partnership, they ended up hitting 240-5 off their 50 overs. I also missed a run out chance, which annoyed me. However I did save some runs in the field, so i'm happy with that. We then went out to bat with the pitch being very flat, we got off to a good start before we fell in bit of a heap. I came in at 7, told to just keep ticking over, although we needed around 100 off the final 11 overs, managed to get to 7 before leaving a ball that was down leg and deciding to run, took the second, and got caught short by a throw from the boundary. They went on to win by 60 ish runs.

Sundays game, we batted first this time thank god! The openers batted through the innings, and notched up 224. With my mate who has recently joined the club. Until today, he had never hit a 50, hit a 6 or hit a 100. Our openers ended up with 129* and 79*. He did all of them today, was so proud of himself. We then bowled our overs and they ended up with 110-9. Was fairly boring game, but look forward to next weeks games :D
And I also managed to pick up my first wicket of the season, about time!

Haven't been around on here for a while due to exams, but have still been playing cricket.

Haven't really had any scores since the 2nd week in April, got a couple of bad decisions and have played some rash shots. But yesterday, I got my first ton of the season, 103*.

Opened the batting, raced to 60 inside 14 overs and then they spread the field far and wide. Was batting with colts so had to try and play it carefully but I found myself only getting one ball an over between overs 14-29. Was sat on 91* at drinks at 29, and decided to do away with the nervous nineties by hitting a 4, 2 and then a 6 to bring up my ton.

Had 15 4s and one 6. Retired myself as we had some other colts to bat and it was only a Sunday. Hopefully, a Saturday ton is on the cards soon.

Played both days this weekend. Was keeping in the 2's on Saturday as both 1st team keepers were unavailable. Batted at 4, felt quite good until I was at the non strikers end. The other batsman(on 90 odd at the time) clipped one to the man at 45 and called me through for 1. Didn't fancy it but thought I could make it but was out quite comfortably for 8.

The batsman went on to make 129 and we won by quite alot so wasn't too fussed after the game but was doing my nut at the time. nothing to report with the gloves Saturday either.

Sunday I was in the 1's for a friendly. Opened up with the 1st team skipper and got an absolute jaffa for 1. But a stumping , catch and a convincing win softened the blow.

Because it's a pathetic way to play cricket if you're going to appeal for that!

As Nick has said...

Agree, but I know plenty of sides who don't give a toss about the spirit of the game.

i guess the appeal follows in the heat of the moment. but the team can always take it back. and in fact it should not come to that. I am shocked the umpire gave it out.

I'd be seriously no swearing please off if that happened in a game that I was playing in.
