thursday was off, Sunday off and Saturday looking pretty bad. That'll be no league game for 3 weeks in a row - not good. Quite a few of our oppo have played 4 out of 9 games. Terrible summer.

We're blowy at the moment but no rain... Fingers crossed that the game is on...

Got my first 5-fer for the 1st team and the first one of the season for me as I tore through the oppos middle order and tail in the last few overs(very nearly including a hat-trick in the final over). They got 162-9 off their 45 and we chased that down in 39 overs, good day!

I do however feel rather bad about my 3rd wicket which was a caught & bowled from a full toss that should have ended up in the trees, however a wicket is a wicket I guess, doesn't matter how they come they are still marked the same in the scorebook..

Another single figures score for me - 4 from 2 balls. We hit 207-6 from 45. Opposition chased them for 4 down with nearly 10 overs left. One of their openers carried his bat for a brutal ton. I also dropped a dolly catch in the field. Having a miserable year. Seriously contemplating knocking it on the head.

Abandoned due to rain after 36 overs with opposition struggling at 90 odd for 5. The great British summer continues

Lost today for a change. Batted really poorly on a pretty blameless deck. Toss was important but they bowled too short and we should've score 193 not 93. Came in at 12-5 after 10 overs. Got fed a load of short stuff, moved to 18 without looking in any trouble and then got one of the few decent balls, a leg stump yorker and that was it. Didn't get too much chance to bowl but picked up a wicket, they did it for 5 down. Our 1st XI marched on though with a win and at least we got a game in for the first Saturday in June.

Don't give up johnny, quitting cricket for 10 years was one of the worst things I've done and I wish I'd carried on playing. I'd had an awful season playing midweek cricket, got fed up as I wasn't playing like I could and packed in. I can guarantee you'll just end up wondering if you'd have done any better and regretting it if you stop.

Just go out next week, relax and try to smack it - you're probably worrying too much.

Quitting is the last resort mate once you have exhausted all the other options. Is there another team at a lower level in your club that you can drop down to for a while to get some form back? Maybe you are just out of form trying and thinking about it too much when you are at the crease? Or maybe you could freshen it up by joining a new club?

Played Peplow's team yesterday, they won the toss and batted first. We managed to bowl them out for 185 in 44 overs before the heavens opened at tea. Sam was unlucky, sold out by his batting partner and ran out for 16(?) after nailing a six.

I didn't bowl but caught their opener who always seems to get 50+ against us and ran out their top scorer after misfielding.

Shame it was abandoned as we all backed ourselves to chase it down as it's about 70 below par at the moment.

And the umpire ate my teas! Not happy!
