Paul Stirling

Great innings from Paul Stirling in the 20/20 qualifying final 17 ball 50. His stats in one day cricket were very tidy last season, so the question is how long before England poach him for that problem one day opening spot? He also bowls a bit of filthy off spin too.

Hits it Hard!!!!!

Gotta look to Hales, Roy, etc before we poach another Irish player. Roy's a Saffer as well, It's getting silly lol

Mine are Irish eyes too mate hence my use of the word poach!I do think it is only a matter of time. He is is an amazing ball striker and highly rated at Middlesex. Has also played in international tournaments and is only 21, definitely a modern pure one day 20/20 cricketer.

There is still relatively little international 20/20 so less time to blood new players or rotate but I can see he number of games increasing especially after the success of the England Pakistan matches. A move towards 3 matches instead of the solitary one game which has been the norm with maybe less 50 over games. Roy and Hales deserve their goes but ultimately it will come down to weight of runs in the domestic game and in the ipl which Stirling has to see as his goal.
