After getting a cleft off Sam about a month ago, I've been on and off trying to get the cleft somewhere near looking like a cricket bat. Armed with just a spokeshave and a sander, I set to it.
I didn't really have a set shape in my head, I kind of liked the Laver concept on things of taking wood from high on the back and leaving as much wood in the hitting area as possible. Even though the bat's ended up looking nothing like that lol!
Here are the pictures anyway, and I welcome all comments good or bad, and anyone with any advice would be very much appreciated as I have a couple more on there way

Fairly happy with it for my first attempt, and as I haven't picked up a woodwork tool since I left school five years ago it's not to shabby!
