OK - some of you will have seen pictures of this on Twitter - but here are a few more details...
It was made for an senior executive of an American banking operation who, unsurprisingly was over the moon with the presentation
It was an Ultima made from the performance light cleft (so not a cheap option...) The shape was Origin and the weight was 2.9 without the hand crafted plating.
Here is a bit more of the story...
This was the very first of these very special jobs and completed in a very tight schedule [this can be tough for SAF cough
]. The SAF team had to work extra hours so that it didn’t have a knock on effect to other projects.
This is the first of a few bats you’ll see over the next year that are very special...
The demand is there and when they can see who and what we are, its takes this craft from a skill that is dying in the eyes of many and turns it into an art form. The money generated from these special projects helps fund projects overseas as we aim to increase the awareness of cricket in the US and also importantly help subsidise cricket bats for children... So we can make something really decent and that is actually correct, suits the child and does not compromise! The education should be as you can appreciate and testify too.... Its should be an extension of you not a show piece. You can have the show piece when you have nailed some serious stats and when can then make you one to hang on your wall once the career is done and the goals have been achieved!!
Oh and I almost forgot what you really wanted to see...
I hope to have some more photos later too
