Mongoose willow grading
« on: April 14, 2012, 05:13:50 PM »

Visited Morrant today to try and get some wicket keeping gloves. So whilst there I had a quick look and feel of a few bats.

The Mongoose Torq bats really caught my eye being big for such light weights, had a look at the Torq Prime the lowest model costing £95 and was impressed by the quality of the willow, most having 7-9 grains. Then looking at the higher grade models I couldn't see much difference. Atleast not enough to warrant the big price difference.

So do Mongoose grade on performance?

Thanks

No, it's done on looks. But they don't buy any really low grades and upgrade like other brands, hence no need for bleaching and no heavily stained bats.

One more question are all the grades of Mongoose bats made in the UK?

Thanks

No. Some are, some aren't in all grades.

Erm, not really for the untrained eye.

Ask the retailer if he knows where they're from, a specialist probably has more chance of UK made bats than a small retailer.
