CIJ fatso laminate, weight reduction/ refurb/ resticker
« on: April 16, 2012, 06:59:44 PM »

Was given a fatso cricket bat the other week from a friend, although it was way too heavy for me (just short of 4lb) how could I say no? Owt for nowt eh?

Think he's had it about 2 years and only ever used in the nets. Anyway, thought I'd rip all the stickers off and see what what was underneath. Although its two different types of willow (Kashmir willow on the face and what looks to be grade 3 English willow on the back) it looks pretty decent. I removed quite a bit of weight and filler (yes, wood filler around the handle and splice), this is what I've been left with.

Finished weight is the top side of 2.15oz, didn't want any concaving on this one.

Your stickers make it look at least 10 times better  :)

Thanks, hope the photos show the finish. Alwats find it hard to show what they actually look like in the flesh.

I would have thought most of them will be some form of lam due to the size.

Cheers mate, looks like they decided to cover 90% of the bat with those horrible stickers. Even blank would have looked better

They used to be all Lams, but Chris from CJI had a visit from the MCC about having them made awhile back.
Got told to stop making them available for general sale.

The Mrs Uncle as the Sumo thats a lam, sticker all the way down the edge to hide join. 3lb 4oz!
Just lean on it and it flys to the rope.
I like to use it in the nets ala Collingwood
