Eng to go up a bit by beating the WI then the mother of all shortened battles between the two best teams...
Aus are, in real terms still a little way behind. but way better than 18 months ago.

i agree, on paper, player for player the teams are well matched, with SA just having the edge possibly, plus south Africa's record over here is excellent and graeme smith a record of seeing off successful England captains.

three tests won't be enough.

A 5 test series would be a real treat

I think Eng need to find some form and confidence in the Windies tests as 1 from 5 must be a bit worrying for them

England will pull ahead against the island boys, then SA 'should' take the test series and in doing so will end Strauss's run as captain. But as everybody has said 3 tests just are not enough..

The one thing that concerns me from a South African point of view is the amount of time off by our boys before the tour and with Smith not holding a cricket bat in anger for at least another month I cant see him getting to many runs this time round.

Should be a cracking series... if it ever stops raining...
Looking forward to the rugby next month  :D

I reckon it will be a stormer of a series and a very interesting one. I stick by the fact that I believe no-one is particularly brilliant on anything other than their own pitches, but Australia, England and South Africa could possibly trade heavyweight blows on each others pitches, with Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and India being able to trade results on sub-continent pitches. I'm going to go with 1-1 in the SA series, with South Africa slightly outbowling England, and England slightly outbatting SA (with Smith desperately short of game time), but really looking forward to it.

Stand out performers for me: Amla, DeVilliers (best player in the world for me imo), Steyn, Phillander (SA); Anderson, Trott, Cook and Swann (Eng).

SA 3-0 weather permitting. This of course has nothing to do with me being Australian ;)

This scenario would put SA into the number 1 position. Infact SA only need to win 2-1 I think

I dont think we will be lucky enough to get 15 days play. I think 1-0 to South Africa with one game drawn and one washed out.. I do expect SA to win the ODI and T20 stuff thou....

I would expect England to win the T20 stuff. World champions and haven't lost one for ages, even over the winter.

England always perform well against South Africa, so I'm tempted to say England will be #1 come the end of the series.
