marks on a bat...
« on: May 02, 2012, 09:06:51 PM »

ok, I was having a net this evening and was interested that there was some grouping on the bat.

what do you guys think?

I think there may be evidence of a strength and a weakness...

I hope that's a knocking in mallet in the top left corner - looks suspiciously phallic!

Anyway, who needs Crictech sheets!!!

The grouping on the edge would suggest an 'out to in' swing?  Maybe picking up the bat towards 2nd slip then bringing it down towards mid on?

Not sure what strength that might indicate.......good off your legs maybe?

i think if those were the issues then the marks would be on the inside edge and there wouldn't be a smattering near the middle...

Someone kept bowliong slow bouncers at you and you were playing through them too quickly, resulting in hitting the outside edge of the bat....

You weren't getting to the pitch of the ball and playing balls that should have been left

the makes on the outside edge could be from opening the face while driving/ blocking?

"working the ball" rather than pushing it back?

Unless all the marks on the bat were as a result of playing just the one shot then it's almost impossible to know! I assumed with my analysis that you were playing a drive of some sort....Was I right??  :D

Hmmm, in the barn.... Pitching it just on a length and some playing true with others leaping off teh ridge and taking the edge...

the answer is I wasn't getting to the pitch of the ball whilst trying to defend/drive a little on the up. It is good to know that the middle position on the bat suits my play though :)

I wouldn't want to use the ridge as an excuse, really. But there is a really big ridge on a length at the barn which makes this kind of thing a little ambitious and obviously it would be totally unlike Fattus to try and hit the edge at extreme speeds to cause as much chaos as possible. :o
