2001 Maestro
« on: May 11, 2012, 12:55:02 PM »

I picked up this Maestro from eBay for less than a tenner.
Not in bad nick, a couple of edge cracks, i thought this bat needed a little TLC. There was still some life left in it so decided to send it to GM for them to do a refurb and repair.

I have now received the bat back from GM and i am really happy with the results. Weight is 2lb 11oz and i can now count 11 grains. Great customer service from GM as well.

Seems such a shame to lose the original stickers... :(

They have done a pretty good job on it though...what does it tap up like?

Buzz that is the style of Maestro of my first ever bat, circa 1985. I would be interested in it.

For an 11 year old bat the rebound is pretty damn good, I am really pleased with it.

This is my 20 year old Maestro. These are, by far, my favourite GM stickers by quite a long way. I've taken it down to Nets and it performs admirably, although I hadn't replaced the rubber at that stage and it did go flying out of my hand! It weighs in at roughly 2lb 9oz.

Would of thought GM would be able to sand it back to white wood rather than kind of do it a bit

Joe, is it possible for you not to quote the whole post, full sized pictures an all? it adds a lot of scroll, for little pay back! ;-)

It will be because the colouring is too deep and be detramentle to the original pressing
Also I did pick this bat up and I must say I like the profile

I'm pleased with it. 11 years of oil and muck would be pretty ingrained in to it. Yes they probably could have got it back to white wood but how much would they have had to take off to get to it.
The pickup is lovely and as said before the rebound is pretty good too.

My favourite stickers too, I've been a bit naughty and bought a pair of replica ones of those - because I like them so much.

Might stick them on an old Maxi I have.
