Creating a home made oval handle
« on: May 15, 2012, 07:21:23 PM »

I would like to turn a round handle into a thicker oval handle for the bottom hand. I have stuck some pieces of bat rubber to the twine and it has worked out ok. Anyone tried this before and have some better alternatives besides a rehandle of the bat?

Cover drive has pictures of how to do this as its pretty simple to do with putting a half grip cut in half on back of handle

Just cut a grip in half across then cut vertically and stick on back then grip over top and round is oval as that's what I told cd and worked for him

I do know for another method used sometimes which is to add layers of tape at the base of the handle and then to over bind with twine which gives a more real feeling to the handle, you can then build up a little more with tape if needed. This will last as long as the bat if done well.

CD, how does it feel, thinking of doing this with my bat, but it looks like it could feel a little unnatural?

I do it as I told cd how to and feels fine and I'm fussy when it comes to handle/grip set up

Sorry for opening an old topic. A round handle can also made into oval using aero grips cut into strips and attached vertically.
