This is only my second review, so please be nice!
I’d like to begin by apologizing to Canners for having to wait a couple of weeks before I could post the review for the 2.12 Blank Bat I purchased off him due to other commitments - hopefully it’ll be worth the wait.
Like many of the other forum members, I was weighing up the option whether or not to get a Blank Bat or not, they’re a new brand and virtually nobody knew what to expect from them: the bats aren’t rejects from really picky people (why that makes them cost more, I do not know) or even made of Canadian willow. But the one thing which did seal the deal for me was Canner’s enthusiasm for the brand and the fact that he wanted all his customers to be satisfied and, essentially, not worry at all about how much a beauty of a bat such as this would be costing you.
I count 13 ruler straight, evenly spaced grains:
When he told me that he received a bat which matched my specifications (40mm edges, 60mm spine, 1
1/2 inch shorter blade) exactly, I was still undecided on whether or not to buy it for £250. After all, the brand are still finding their feet, but, after hearing the opinions of Buzz and Señor Fattus on this very bat and the rest of the bats they had seen from Blank Bats, I thought it was worth taking a punt and, in my honest opinion, it pulled off.
Mike applied a toe guard and a helicopter scuff sheet for me, and it added a tiny amount to the weight: regardless, this pick up makes it feel like 2.8 even though it is, in fact, a 2.12. He also applied stickers (which those of you eagle eyed forumers will notice are not on the bat, as they were not on when these photos were taken), of the colour of my choice, to the bat for free and I can’t help but think that the splice stickers are the best thing since sliced bread because they make the bat look really classy.
Due to the poor weather we’re having, I’ve only had the opportunity of using the bat in matches on two occasions: during which the bowlers were just watching in awe at the sight of my hitting boundaries at will – the bat helped too
Joking aside, it really does go well and hopefully, when the weather does improve, there may be a cricket ball coming near you.
Enjoy the pics:
I know this may sound like I’m advertising for the brand, but their customer service is next to none; Mike could have quite easily sold the bat to someone else, but instead held onto it for just under a month just so that I could raise the money for it. If any of you out there want a bat which looks good and performs well at a ridiculously competitive price (as opposed to those people, who shall remain nameless, who flog bats off for very near to £400) look no further than Blank Bats. To this date, I have seen no members of the forum unhappy with their Blank Bat; I guess this just goes to show just how good they are.
For the record, the “Mike” I refer to is Canners and not another person who vanishes for long periods of time.
Once again, thank you Canners and 100 not out for a pleasant buying experience and I wish you all the success in the future.
