I bought a GUNN & MOORE bat off a member of this forum back in February and the bat was brand new when I received it and it still looks brand new!!

However, the bat developed a big crack after I went after a short ball in last week’s net session and it’s totally fudged! The crack has gone right through the edge to the splice of the bat!

The bat has only been used in 7 net sessions and like I mentioned above, it still looks in top condition.

Can I ask someone to upload the pictures on my behalf as I can’t access a photo uploading site whilst in work.

Also, I just wanted to know where I stand. Have tried to contact the member through the website but the user hasn’t been online for the past week!

Have managed to contact GM but they say it’s a matter between me and the seller.

I would imagine unless the bat is a under a year old then there is no warranty, As for it being between you and the seller then unfortunately the seller isnt responsible as he has sold the bat and as we all know bats are natural products which can break at any time.

if you have done all YOU can to knock the bat yourself even if it says pre-prepared on it
send it back to GM with a nice polite letter,and I cant stress nice and polite enough here.
They will have a look at it for you.They may replace it they may not.

But it's worth it.
My mate had a hero GM le split 1st time in nets and GM customer service sorted him out with another bat.
The larger companies are generally quite good with this sort of thing.Newbery prob the best of the lot in my experience

I've knocked it in also!

I've spoken to GM and they don't want nothing to do with it I'm afraid!

I think it is better to buy from authorised retailers and if there is problem with the bat, you need to contact the retailer u have bought from and they will then sort out everything for you

If I were you, i'll contact the seller

Tbh the best course of action would have been for the seller (assuming her had bought it from a shop) to act as if he was returning it to GM (i.e. as GM would honour his rights as he was the direct purchaser) though without any refund to you or acceptance of any responsibility.

By all means contact the seller to see if there's anything he can do to provide a receipt or help with the above suggestion (though I fear it may be too late) whatever, but there's nothing he's liable for, unless he knew about the problem in the wood or was acting dishonestly (which doesn't sounds as if it's the case tbf)

Out of interest, was it an Apex? What model?

That kind of damage looks like storm damage to the willow, which unfortunately doesn't show until you use it. The batmakers generally don't carry the warranty over to a secondhand buyer as they can't guarantee the bat is brand new.

I don't think there is a lot you can do.

Ooof!

That's probably the one thing that makes me cross about GM - their bats aren't and simply cannot be 'ready to play'. It's disinginuous and a crude marketing ploy.

looks a cracker for a 606..

also looks (No Swearing Please) am supprised they dont wanna know! send the guy on her a pm from gm supply pics of the bat etc u can tell its brand new lol
