We don't have any time limits on saturday league cricket.  But we played a 40 over game yesterday and bowled our 40 in 1 hour 45ish.  If you run around quickly between overs, it helps keep you warm, and it also hurries up the batsmen.

Its strange as there can be a lot of factors in this. I was playing a game at weekend where the batsman proceeded to take 4-5 practice swings, before winding up the arms every 2 balls. Which massively slowed it down.

Then there is the time when peoples heads drop when someone is hitting 4's and 6's for fun and they end up walking after the ball that has gone over the rope.

In this case, it's up to the captain to try and keep everyone positive and keep them interested.  There's nothing worse than someone punishing seemingly every ball for a boundary, but the quicker you get the ball back, the quicker you get off the field.
