Apologies for the poor photo btw, it is like a swelling on areas of the bat if that helps :-[

That's what I thought but it has only been used 2-3 times and has a toe guard? Should I just sand it level?

I'd put money on it being moisture damage. You need to get rid of the swelling by drying it out and possibly sanding, theres a higher chance of that splitting on my opinion.

that happened to a laver i had in 2006, when i went to the astro nets which hadnt quite dried out. It looks a bit like a blister/swelling???

i let it dry out (with the help of a hairdryer) and it went down but always looked a bit different to the rest of the face. Mid way throught he season i cracked one off the toe and it cracked in the exact place, front through to the back.

I would let it dry out and the wrap the toe all the way round the back a few times with fibreglass tape.

The bat was great and was a Jayasuriya cast off (too heavy.)

Looks like moisture or water damage. My salix went just like that after getting very wet in the rain. Took mine to hawk who dried it out, pressed it and put an insert in the toe. Good as new afterwards.
