Fast bowling loosing my Rythm after 4 overs
« on: June 14, 2012, 02:59:19 AM »

Hi every one  this has happened to me now three to four times. I bowl fairly quick(not express quick) for first four overs and after that I loose my rhythm and I can feel the way I am running to bowl(I run gradually and accelerate a bit too much). Can you guide with this?

Id suggest just getting out there and practice your run up time and time again until it fees comfy and smooth should be very fluent and you shoud not have to think about it all you need to concentrate on is there your going to bow the ball

Hrmm, I usually have the opposite as in it takes me an over or so to work into my rhythm. And there's nothing worse as a pace bowler than having to think about your run up (well, getting smacked around in worse but you get what I mean). Have you thought maybe about having a spell when this happens and coming back after a break to see if you have the same problem or if you get straight into it as if you've started your first spell? May be worth chatting to your captain and giving that a shot if it is a problem?

Have you played a lot of t20 where you've been taken off after 4? It's something that is in your head mostly and will come with practice and repetition. You don't mention whether you've ever bowled eight over spells comfortably in the past or whether you have just stepped up to longer spells so it would be good to get a feel for a bit more of the circumstances.

we play lot of t20. Yes. I used to bowl 8 overs spells in the past with out any problems. I haven't been playing cricket frequently. I used to play 3 days every week. Now I am playing once in a week and rarely twice a week. I lost some pace compared to earlier.

The problem for me is my schedule. I cant afford to play on weekends. So I have to play only on weekdays. I don't know if I can get back my rhythm playing once a week.

I'm the opposite too although this season I have failed to get into any rhythm what so ever which has been awful, I've gone from having my best season last season to everything feeling completely wrong this year and I haven't changed anything.

It's not your rhythm,  your not fit enough.  after 4 overs,  you're struggling g to keep going without putting in more effort...  that's why it feels that you're losing your rhythm
