It's sad to see such a good batsmen leave the game but you got the feeling that age was catching up with him the way he was playing this season, not really surprising that Surrey didn't want to play him in any format when he was struggling to get into double figures.

Lol, I didn't run off dear - I just saw it and wanted it to share with fellow Forum members.
Its a sad way to go - form some times ditches the very best.


P.S.- He is family to one of the guys in New York, so kinda dear to my team.
Always wondered why he didn't do great at test level.

Considering they told him he was no longer part of their plans for any forms when the club is going through a crisis(due to Tom Maynard's death) and are now lacking batsmen it shows that this was more than just a lack of form, age had caught up and he is sadly no longer good enough to play at county level.

I was born too late to see him play Test matches however he clearly had ability as shown by his 100 hundreds in First Class cricket so I'm guessing it was his temperament that let him down. Will be a shame to see him go and will also be interesting as a Surrey fan to see what they do for FC matches without Ramprakash, Maynard and possibly Hamilton-Brown(depending on when he feels ready to return to Cricket).

True - I was hoping for a fitting end for someone with 100+ FC hundreds.
I guess life isn't that nice to all of us.
All I can say whenever saw him bat - he looked part at international level (technique wise).
Salute to a great batsmen.
