Based on recent form you wouldn't have Smith in there....Cook is a long way ahead of him... ;)

depends - if Cook can be guaranteed to get to 20, sure.  But he does tend to make none or plenty.

does not make him a bad player, does it?  No more than a statistical anomaly!

Wasn't it a Sightscreen Anomaly?

It may be a statistical anomaly, but like Ricky Ponting in India, a significant one.
Saffer batting looks very strong though. A motivated Duminy at 7 is some order.

less so than Ponting in India - that suggests a struggle in alien conditionss, whereas we know that Kallis can bat in our conditions perfectly well because he's done it both here in teh county game and in similar conditions elsewhere.  So, an anomaly.

I would also put Cook ahead of Smith.

Ponting averages 48.20 in Sri Lanka, which are similar conditions to India, so he can in theory bat in Indian conditions perfectly well.

Kallis has played 12 Tests in England, which could be enough of a case study to disprove the anomaly theory.
