Preferably get as close as possible before the new ball is due.  Can't see us getting more than 50 if the new ball is available when the tail comes in...

I very much doubt that we will win this.
BUT JB is showing that if you bat without fear and still play shots, that it's possible to get runs! The SA bowling attack are superb, but all bowling attacks will go for runs!

Plus he is showing his class and that he wants some ODI games!  ;)
Win or lose, you got to admire his attitude!  8)

the thing is, its a fith day pitch and we only have Prior plus the "all rounders" Broad and Swann to come.  To chase another 240 from here would be one hell of an effort.

Weæve gone from dropping half the team to deciding it's practically in the bag in the space of an hour!

Prior has a different bat. Hope it makes the difference! Anyone know what it is?

Regardless of the bat, Prior will get out sweeping Tahir out of the rough...

Judging from the scorecards, Bairstow has proven himself to the people (including myself) that felt he wasn't ready to make an impact. I think the top order need to take a look at their own batting at the moment, as this seemed to be a problem for England against Pakistan and now against SA. Match can still be won, but will be a lot less likely with Bairstow out. If Prior and Trott get out, I only really see Swann scoring some runs though... :(

winning from here required 50+ overs at almost exactly 4 runs per over on a fifth day pitch...just can't see that happening given the absence of leeway as regards wickets in hand!
