Thanks Vic but I am quite comfortable with my knowledge of cricket and the way I form an opinion. I understand you like to come across as a font of knowledge but it's quite clear from your posts that your opinions are based on trolling the internet and rumours spread amongst forums.
Your argumentum ad hominem does you no credit at all - but if that is the way you wish to conduct yourself, that is your choice.
You can accuse me of being a troll, but if you go back to threads on this site exactly a year ago, England were #1 and Australia were #5. The general consensus around this site was that "England will be #1 for a decade or more" and "Australia will be battling with the West Indies and Bangladesh for years to come at the bottom of the test rankings".
The now legendary Hads45 predicted confidently that India would annihilate Australia 4-0 on Australian soil. When I pointed out that was highly unlikely to happen, simply because India has never won a series here. Undeterred by facts, Hads45 constantly harped on that Australia had nothing and that India was a brilliant team that only lost to England because England were the second coming of the cricketing messiahs. As ridiculous as that sounds now, he actually had a lot of support around here. I think he kept his mypoic chatter up until the second test, whereby he then disappeared never to be seen again.
Who was trolling there?
Not only did the vast majority here believe the above, but many of you (with some notable exceptions) DELIGHTED in rubbing my face in the dirt and reminding me that Australia was #5 "and falling further" and that England was #1 "and will stay there for a decade because we have so many brilliant kids coming through". I responded to that with now prescient claims that "Australia will not stay down long because we always bounce back fast" (boy was I ridiculed for saying that) and that Englands reign at #1 may very well last for a while, but nothing is certain. I did not see the requisite brilliance back then for a Windies 80's or Aussies 90's/00's type of relentless dominance, but even the usually rational Manormaniac felt it necessary to remind me when I mentioned:
"Anyways, what is so objectionable about the above sentiment anyway? Is it inconcievable that in five years time Australia will be quite a good test team?
Are you that convinced that England’s current world beaters will still be all conquering in five years time? Have you added five years to each player in the present team to see who will still be playing?"
Manormaniac reminded me that:
"As for England, yes, I actually do. Accepting that Strauss, probably Pietersen and perhaps Swann and Anderson will be at the end of their careers, I think we will still be left with some excellent residual talent – Cook and Bell have demonstrated genuine flair for compiling massive scores, and will only improve with age, whilst Bresnan, Finn, Tremlett and Broad should all still be available. For all the list of young talent you put forward for Australia, I can offer a far longer list of English options who are at least as far along the road to Test careers."
Was I trolling?
In my Aussie heart I would love to believe your assessment that: "aussies are as good as both these sides, it just comes down to the perforance on the day" - but, I just don't see it at this stage. The fact that I see SA and England as still being a class above Oz at this point time hardly makes me a troll!
Anyways, it is apparent you do not want me to have an opinion on your posts. I shall refrain from commenting on anything you say for fear of you accusing me of trolling.
Best of luck and all that.
