Thigh guard
« on: July 17, 2012, 01:57:49 PM »

Probably one for Buzz considering his legendary thigh guard fetish but I'm wondering if anyone has recommendations for a new thigh guard.

I'm using aero p2's at the moment but packing my bag tonight for midweek has made me want to try something else that's perhaps a bit smaller to store. The strippers are fantastic but for midweek I don't need the inner thigh protection and having another thigh guard would mean not having to repack as much kit.

From buzz's old posts this years GM LE thigh pads sound good but I can't seem to find anywhere that has them in stock (if anyone has one they want to sell please let me know), the vantage ones also sound good but not sure if peplow has any left.

Thanks

I pretty much guarantee that the moment you stop wearing an inner thigh guard you will wear one to the inner thigh!

I'm sure that'll happen. I'd like to say I'm hard and I can take the pain but the sad truth is that I've probably got enough natural padding/fat to cushion the blow.

Thanks for the replies, based on the recommendations I've just pm'd John about ordering a shamrock thigh pad. Looking forward to trying it out and I'll stick some comments on here about it when it arrives.

My shamrock thigh pad arrived yesterday and I used it in a practice session last night. Very comfy, took a couple of hits on it last night as I batted badly but didn't feel a thing. Didn't run in it much but it felt secure so I'm sure it'll be fine to run in.

Overall a really good thigh pad as others have said, I'd definitely recommend them and if all the shamrock gear is as good as this I'll be looking to buy more in future - had my eyes on the moulded pads on eBay but after john alerting the forum to these I reckon there will be a bidding frenzy.

Exactly as predicted I now have two big red welts on my inner thigh, including one from a ball that pitched half way down the track but didn't get up and got me lbw.
