Hi there

My current bat has been on its last legs for a while now, but today I think it has finally given in, and am now in the market for a new bat.

I am generally a pretty big fan on Warsops, and the Marlin at £225 does look like a quality piece of willow, but do you guys think it is worth paying such a huge premium for a bat? In other words, is £225 always too much for a bat, and if you shop about you'll be able to get a bat of similar quality for less? Pretty much looking for someone to tell me if I am making a mistake in going for the £225 Warsop haha.

As you can by bats double the price I don't see that being too extortionate. Spoilt for choice on here with that sort of budget mind.

  • If I only could bat....

If you want to get a new bat, what you give yourself with a top of the range is likely to be better willow. I've seen a couple using that as a mechanism. Equally though, I'd talk to some of the batmakers on here and see what you could get for that money!

Funny this topic was posted today. Usually is say no and that top brands all over price massively etc etc like a lot of forumites do because let's face it, we are spoilt here. But I was ib Romida today and my mate found a GM epic hiding in a corner and was priced at £289.99. No way I said calling him a fool but after he passed me it I was saying yes yes yes. The bat was ridiculous!!! It was 2.8 on the scales with 17 ruler straight grains and was absolutely MASSIVE!!! flew off the mallet and I fell in love. I still can't see me paying that much for a bat but.... That is the kind of thing people will pay for. If you can find anything like that then yes its worth it if you want a shelf brand. But saying that I bet there's not many like that knocking around

Could email you actual photos, if that helps? Or you could always check out the YouTube reviews we did for each bat if you want an even closer look... I know that's not quite as good as walking into the shop and picking them up, but it's the next best thing really...

Im a fan of the 2nd hand Market. You can pick a barely used Newbery SPS for anything from 100 to 150 which is a bagain if you ask me. I contacted one of the sponsors on here and asked what they had for £150 - I got a grade 1, 5 star bat that was made for a pro that he used once in a net session but sent it back as it was to heavy. That was posted to
