Lightweight pads
« on: July 26, 2012, 08:24:11 PM »

Having finally managed to sell the GM pads that I had up on here I'm now tempted to buy some more - the forum really has corrupted my tiny weak mind.

Having picked up some bargain Ayrtek Elite's from Fattus which are fantastic I'm now quite tempted by some lightweight pads. I'm keeping an eye on the shamrock ones on ebay at the moment and I'm quite tempted by those but also like the look of the GM RSB's and blank bats pads. I'm not keen on morrants as although they're meant to be great i ordered a pair and sent them back as they arrived with big dints in them.

Has anyone used shamrock, blank bats or RSB's - any recommendations? Particularly interested in blank bats and shamrock so any feedback on these would be good.

Not 100% sure I'll buy some but just trying to work out whats best so any comments appreciated.

Are the R11 really 340g as per another post on here? Really impressed if thats the case and they do sound like fantastic quality. However, not sure I'm that keen on the design and don't really want to spend that much.

Joe - thanks for replying, the ninja ones are certainly lightweight and I'm sure they'll be good too but I'm not that keen on the branding sorry.

The R11's are certainly very light, I've never weighed mine so I don't know whether they're 340g or not....they feel like it though.. ;)

I will be looking for some new match pads as the ones i have i will be using in my net kit... Shamrock seem to be the best option for me as all the kit I have from them is fantastic.... The ninja pads look really nice but I have never used pads with just two straps so could turn out to be an expensive booboo if I don't get on with them. Would also need small men's size for my short legs with shorter straps as the ones on my vantage pads are a little to long...Anybody know of pads with shorter straps please let me know...

Based on the thigh pad I've bought from John and the reviews of the duffles on here I'm definitely leaning towards shamrock, but blank bats look good too.

I'm in the same boat, never used 2 strap so might not like them but i fancy trying some.

Frank, regarding the length of the Vantage straps I found them to be unusually long. I'm sure with most other brands you'll be fine

try the morrants. Best by miles. I have had mine for about a year and a half. Two others from my team have bought them since all are exceptionally happy with them

I would imagine they are around 600g

The Shamrocks and Ninjas look pretty much identical. Just comes down to which graphics you prefer!
