Refurb long blade to standard blade
« on: August 08, 2012, 12:46:02 PM »

Hi I bought this bat last year when I was in my search for a light weight bat.

http://custombats.co.uk/cbforum/index.php?topic=11175.0

When it arrived it was 2lb 12 oz! The seller very kindly returned some of the money and I tried to sell to club mates. All do not read this forum and hadn't a clue who Robert Pack was and weren't going to believe the West Indian pro story.

I decided to give the bat a go myself despite the additional weight. Another problem was the handle was thin so it needed another grip, more weight yes but a better pick up. Still too heavy and was out three times pulling onto stumps. However middle was great. Decided I was liking heavier bats bought one of Simmy's old bats (BAS with Puma stickers) and the RPC stayed in the bag. Yet it kept calling me Pablo use me Pablo use me. So I thought perhaps the long blade is the problem so off I sent it to Rob and the gang to make it a standard blade. Today the bat has returned.

I am extremely pleased with the job the guys have done. The bat is now weighing 2lb 11oz with two grips and an anti-scuff and picks up a lot lighter. Unfortunately I also was forced to buy a new pair of gloves to match as thought my green Ayrteks would clash! But not a bad net pair of gloves to have to use with Simmy's old BAS which becomes the net bat.

I am very pleased with the work the guys did and would highly recommend them. The least I could do was put this on the forum so they can get the praise and business they deserve.

That's a lovely profile....the spine looks massive....is there a lot of concaving on it?

No real concaving to be honest. For me the middle of the bat is so good I have persevered with it. Tried diff grip set ups and now the changing it to standard blade. Have adapted my batting style as well as when I first joined the forum I used a 2.5 but had used 2lb 9ozs a few years before that. I'm hoping it will bring plenty of runs but prob for next season. I really love the labels as well it is just a really good bat and I'm glad I sent it off to get altered. Cannot wait to use it.
