I've been bowled by 2 full tosses this season - both trying to spank the cover off the ball!!
Was particularly annoyed last time (just 2 or 3 weeks ago) as the bowler was buffet! So I have been telling myself to not get carried away with a full toss ever since! And in particular trying to tell myself to play ALL full tosses defensively!!
Anyway, I must have listened as I got 2 on Saturday - the first was played defensively for no run (probably should have been a no ball but wasn't given) And the second was thigh high/knee high on middle and leg. So I just played it very straight intending to simply play it along the ground back to the bowler! But because I wasn't trying to lump it one, I must have timed it better as it ended up being a straight drive all the way along the ground to the boundary!! So from now on, any full toss will be defended with a straight bat and if they go for no run, then at least I am still at the crease!
They way I look at it now, I just play it like any other ball......along the ground!
